Quarantine Studio Visit: Khari Turner

After months of lockdown, I've been craving a sense of normalcy. Imagine my excitement when I found out that Harlem-based artist, Khari Turner, was in Los Angeles for the month for a residency at the Iris Project. I wondered if it would be safe to visit him for a studio visit... might as well ask, right?

Khari welcomed Chris and I to his studio with a big smile. Located off of a rustic street in Venice, the Iris Project is hidden to most who pass by, but once inside the large garden and craftsman-style house turned gallery makes this place a secret oasis. Khari's studio is tucked in the back. We visit with him for an hour to share good conversation about art, politics and life in New York.

Here are a few photos from the visit:

Khari has a solo show planned for early 2021 and will be appearing in upcoming group shows around the country. Chris and I look forward to working with him in the future and adding a piece of his work to our collection.
